Cynthia A. Hannon

Cynthia A. Hannon, an associate at MehlmanvTerBeek LLP, has been practicing law in California for more than 24 years, and practices primarily in the area of family law, handling cases involving dissolution of marriages (contested and uncontested), custody and child support issues, paternity, adoption, and premarital and postnuptial agreements.

Ms. Hannon earned her B.A. degree from the University of San Francisco with a double major in Government and Sociology. 20060822-172146-049_std.jpg (30415 bytes) She received her law degree also from the University of San Francisco and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1983.

Ms. Hannon began her legal career by opening her own law office in San Ramon , California . Ms. Hannon managed her own office for more than 14 years. During this time Ms. Hannon was actively involved in her community volunteering her time for a variety of community services organizations and non-profit groups, including the San Ramon Library Foundation, the San Ramon Community Hospital, Contra Costa County YWCA , Soroptimist International of San Ramon, and the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation.

In 1997 Ms. Hannon moved to Berkeley and joined the law firm of Anderson and Watt in Albany , California , where she continued to specialize in the area of Family Law. Ms. Hannon worked at Anderson & Watt until the firm was dissolved due to the retirement of one of the partners. Ms. Hannon joined MehlmanvTerBeek LLP as an associate in April 2006.

Ms. Hannon is a third generation Californian and comes from a family full of attorneys, including her father, sister, uncle and a number of cousins. Ms. Hannon is honest and forthright with her clients and offers practical solutions to the client in order to avoid costly litigation when it is not necessary. Ms. Hannon is a forceful advocate for her clients’ positions and an aggressive litigator when it is called for. She recognizes, however, that family law attorneys need to protect the interest of the children involved and to work towards a settlement where it is possible, in order to minimize destructive conflicts.
